In accordance with our bylaws, we are now accepting nominations for the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum’s Board of Directors. This is a great opportunity for those who want to be involved in setting the organization’s strategic direction and overseeing its work on behalf of Canada’s apprenticeship community.

The Nomination Committee would like to encourage interested Champion, Patron and Supporter members to complete and submit the form below.

To be considered, one must be:
1) nominated by their member organization or another member in the same constituency group – Employer, Labour, Jurisdiction or Education
2) have a current and direct relationship to a member organization that is in good standing at the Champion, Patron or Supporter level
3) maintain CAF-FCA membership throughout the term on the Board.

Nominations must be accompanied by the nominee’s written agreement to serve if elected (1 paragraph on why you are running and what you would like to bring to the organization) and a brief (up to 1-page) biography. Nominations received without this agreement, bio or completed form will not be accepted or reviewed. Nominations must be supported by the main contact of the member organization. Nominations must be received no later than Tuesday, August 22, 2023, 11:59pm EDT.

We are accepting nominations for the following positions:

  • Jurisdiction (1 position) – 4 yr term
  • Employer (2 positions)
    o 2-year term
    o 4-year term
  • Labour (1 position) – 4 yr term
  • Educator (1 position) – 4 yr term

Director positions are usually for a period of four (4) years, beginning on September 28, 2023, except for replacement positions which can be between 1–3-year terms. The Nomination Committee of the Board will review the eligibility of nominees. The election will be conducted electronically in early September.

Definitions of Eligible Constituency Groups for 2023 Election

Jurisdictions:
A jurisdiction is defined as a provincial or territorial authority with enshrined regulatory responsibility for apprenticeship. This constituent group has indicated a preference for balanced regional representation where possible.

Employers:
An employer is defined as a private or public sector organization that hires and trains apprentices for the purposes of its own enterprise and engages apprentices as paid employees. This constituent group has indicated a preference for balanced representation among construction, motive power, industrial and service sectors.

Labour:
A labour organization is defined as one whose primary purpose is the ongoing best interest of skilled trades employees, including the provision of fair wages, apprenticeship training and excellent work conditions. This constituent group has indicated a preference for balanced representation among building trades, industrial and public sector unions.

Education:
An educational institution is defined as an institution providing apprenticeship training where training leads to certification in Red Seal and/or designated trades recognized by the jurisdiction in which it operates. This constituent group has indicated a preference for balanced regional representation.
