The National Apprenticeship Awards – Inclusion and Diversity Champion is an individual or group from a CAF-FCA member organization who advocates for the inclusion of under-represented or equity-priority individuals in apprenticeship. Recipients will be provided with a complimentary delegate pass to the 2025 Supporting Equity in Trades Conference, May 24-26 in Toronto, ON.

Nomination information

Individuals advancing DEIA in apprenticeship or the skilled trades may apply or be nominated by a CAF-FCA member in good standing or a member of CAF-FCA’s broader community.

Award criteria

A nominee for Inclusion and Diversity Champion demonstrates a commitment to inclusion and diversity through:

  • a history of advocacy for inclusion and diversity in the skilled trades and apprenticeship
  • participation in the promotion of apprenticeship training and careers in the trades through promotion to young people from under-represented groups (i.e., women, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities and more)
  • participation in local, regional

The 2025 Inclusion and Diversity Champion will be recognized at the 2025 Supporting Equity in Trades Conference, May 24- 26 in Toronto, ON, by the Chairperson of the CAF-FCA Board of Directors. The recipient will receive recognition and profile through CAF-FCA social media and communication channels and be presented with a plaque to be displayed at their workplace.

Recipient selection

National Apprenticeship Awards – Diversity and Inclusion Champion nominations will be reviewed by the CAF-FCA JEDI (Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion) Committee, and the Board of Directors will affirm their recommendation.
