Future Skills Centre Pilot Project

CAF-FCA is piloting an online tool, Vametric Valid-8 with 2,000 apprentices. Valid-8 provides a way for apprentices to centralize skills achievements online. CAF-FCA is interested in understanding apprentice experiences with the tool and engaging industry in a dialogue about the way on-the-job training is documented. Trades included in the pilot project are electrical, carpentry, plumbing and welding. Red Seal standards have been integrated into the tool for these four trades. Quebec standards have also been integrated into the tool for electrical, carpentry and plumbing. Industry workshops for each of the trades in the pilot ae ongoing to help reach the goal of recruiting 2,000 apprentices.
